The Crescent Hose Company is a 100% volunteer fire department located in the heart of Wine Country, USA. Crescent Hose is a full service fire department, providing fire protection, rescue, emergency medical services, hazardous materials response and mitigation, public education, fire prevention, and "special service requests" (which could be anything from a cat in a tree to mutual aid staffing, and anything in between). Crescent Hose's most valuable resource is the human element. Without the 40 active members, 10 active honorary members, and 10 junior members, the hose company would not be able to staff the top-notch equipment. Operating out of one station, Crescent Hose maintains 2 ambulances, one heavy rescue, one engine, and one 75' ladder truck. Because of the diverse area we serve as "first due", any or all of the equipment could be called at any time, any day. Within our first due response area, we have 5 nursing facilities, 3 hotels, 5 schools, 1 college, several churches, multiple restaurants, around 13 miles of interstate, 4 state roadways, and several manufacturing plants. With this kind of diverse area, we stay very busy, answering around 4 calls a day!! Crescent Hose is dispatched through the East County Communications Center, on the primary dispatch frequency of 33.9800mhz. Calls are processed by the Erie County Department of Public Safety (ECDOPS) when you call 911, and are then prioritized and sent to the East County Communications Center (ECD). ECD then dispatches the appropriate resources and will provide follow up instructions to the caller if they are needed. Crescent Hose is one of two departments that protect the North East area. Fuller Hose Company, located on South Pearl Street, operates the other fire station in town. Fuller Hose is known for it's grey fire vehicles, a unique color that has it's own crayon name "Fuller Hose Grey". Because we are volunteer, we are always looking for people interested in "joining our ranks."
